JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Building Secretary
REQUIREMENTS:
A. Education Level: High School Diploma
B. Experience Desired: One to three years secretarial experience
C. Physical Requirements: Constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, hearing; frequent keyboarding, use of wrists, hands, fingers,, speaking, typing and writing. Frequent filing, sitting, standing and walking. Some lifting up to 25 pounds may be necessary.

WORKS WITH: Building Principal
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:
1. Serves as a point of contact for students, parents, staff, or school visitors.
2. Answers telephones, logs and delivers messages.
3. Maintain accurate student record files. Request records for incoming students and mail records for students leaving the district.
4. Verifies accuracy of employee leave forms and prepares leave/sub report.
5. Prepares/composes written communication including principal’s documents, newsletters, flyers, forms, etc. Processes incoming communications.
6. Accounts for and completes deposit forms for all collected monies and submits to business office.
7. Enters student attendance information daily into the computer.
8. Verifies student absences, runs daily attendance reports, prints and mails student attendance letters, prepares documents for attendance meetings. Informs the principal of excessive student tardies or absences.
9. Prepares and verifies office supply requisitions and processes purchase orders. Unpacks and records items received. Inventories and disperses incoming supplies and other materials.
10. Performs health related activities including administration of first aid and completion of accident report forms; caring for sick children and notifying parents; obtaining authorization, logging and dispensing prescription medication to students as delegated by the nurse.
11. Operate and troubleshoot office equipment.
12. Handle and distribute mail.
13. Takes lunch count and reports to food service department.
14. Manage room keys and card keys for staff.
15. Understand and communicate crisis manual procedures as directed.
16. Provide support to other programs/administrators in building as directed.
17. Perform other duties as assigned by building principal.

A. Inside
B. Climatic Environment – Climate controlled environment with some temperature variations. Typically, work is conducted in a comfortable environment.
C. Hazards – Exposure to communicable diseases.
D. Work Year – This position is for a contract year. Duties of the position are performed between August 1st and end of school year. |
