JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Middle School Athletic Coach
REQUIREMENTS:
A. Education Level: High School Diploma. BA/BS Education preferred
B. Experience Desired: High School/College Participation
C. Physical Requirements: Hand-eye, mind-eye coordination, physical dexterity, the ability to bend, stoop, walk, talk, and sit. The ability to travel between locations.
D. Other Requirements: College course work in the Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries. Knowledge of the sport. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others.
REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal, Activities Coordinator, Respective High School Head Coach
RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Middle School Principal, Activities Coordinator, Respective High School Head Coach
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- Issues equipment and supervises the students’ care of it; check in and inventory equipment at the end of the season.
- Oversees physical examination records and makes certain that every athlete returns the necessary forms signed by the doctor and parent.
- Promotes a style of play consistent with the scope and sequence of the total program.
- Prepares a daily practice schedule and makes continued efforts to improve coaching techniques.
- Dresses appropriately for coaching duties and practice and game time.
- Adheres to policies and procedures established by the Tea Area School District.
- Administers first aid to injured players and takes appropriate action such a notifying the parent, family doctor, Activities Coordinator, and building principal.
- Communicates between officials and coaches in a professional manner.
- Attends rules meetings and is familiar with the rules of the game.
- Attends coaches meetings as deemed necessary by the Activities Coordinator and respective head coach.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
A. Inside and Outside (Gymnasium, Wrestling Room, Locker Rooms, Coaching Offices, Football Field, Track, Soccer Fields, District Transportation)
B. Climatic Environment – Possibly subjected to extreme cold of below 32 degrees and heat above 100 degrees. Occasionally subjected to extreme noise, odors, mists, dust, and ventilation issues.
C. Hazards – Possible exposure to bodily fluids, communicable diseases, and adverse walking and driving conditions.
