JOB DESCRIPTION

 

JOB TITLE:                                                     ASSISTANT DRAMA

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Education level: Bachelor’s degree preferred

 

  1. Experience desired: Degree or course work in theatre

desired.  Experience in high school, college, community and/or professional theatre.

 

  1. Physical requirements: Hand-eye, mind-eye coordination, physical

dexterity,  intermittent repetitive motions with the wrists, the ability to bent, stoop, walk, talk, and sit.  The ability to travel between locations.

 

  1. Other requirements: Willingness to commit large amounts of                                                                              time to produce a play.  (Average is                                                                           approximately 18 hours per week for 5-6                                                                 )  Must be knowledgeable of                                                                           current trends in theatre.

 

REPORTS TO:                                               Principal/Activities Director

 

RECCEIVES GUIDANCE FROM:               Principal/Activities Director

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

  1. Assists in the choice of play for production.
  2. Works in conjunction with play director in determining the cast and appropriate scenes for auditions.
  3. Operates within the policies of the Dakota 12 Conference and the SDHSAA.
  4. Maintains a staff relationship with other play personal.
  5. Assists with fundraising activities as needed.
  6. Assists in preparing the rehearsal schedule.
  7. Assists in the technical aspects of the shoe (set , lights, sound, costumes, make-up, etc.)
  8. Assists in the interpretation of the show with the actors and technical people.
  9. Assists in rehearsals.

  1. Climatic environment:

Often subjected to extremes of cold below 32 degrees and heat above 100 degrees.  Occasionally subjected to extreme noise, odors, mists, dust and poor ventilation.

  1. Hazards:

Prepares actors to work safely in a stage environment, e.g. break away props, falls, etc..

  1. Work year:

Extra duty/extra pay positions are for a fiscal year (July 1-June 30).  Duties of the position may be performed any time during that time period depending upon the position/season.
